A Moody Bowl & Pitcher Shoot

By Danielle Johnson Photography

(Along the Spokane River at Bowl & Pitcher on Sept 23, 2018)

Vision from the shoot: For this styled shoot, I had a vision of a darker, moodier bridal look rather than the more traditional bright and airy look, as I’ve been moving to a more moody style with my photography. I found a bunch of inspiration from other styled shoots for a burgundy/dark reddish-purple color palette, and Bloom and Design did an excellent job at creating exactly the colors I was wanting for the flowers. I also wanted it to be a bit Bohemian, so I had Samantha’s hair done in a way that we could put both a veil and a flower crown in her hair. I picked a dress that had a beautiful train and beautiful lace details; very simple, yet stunning.

The Shoot: Oh boy, was this day busy! I picked up the dress and veil, and headed straight to Bowl and Pitcher, where I decided to do the shoot. Lina and Viktoriya, of Bloom & Design, went out of their way to deliver the beautiful bouquet and crown to me at the location, and Samantha showed up soon after with her hair and makeup all ready to go! We explored a lot of the park before it got too dark out, and it was so fun to do this shoot at Bowl and Pitcher, as I am new to Spokane and have been wanting to shoot there forever!

The Flowers: Bloom & Design

The Dress: Ti Adora 7588 Iliana from Honest In Ivory

The Hair/Makeup: Demi Whiteman of SweetBee Photography

The Model: Samantha Rucker

The camera: I shot with my Canon 70D camera, and used a Sigma art 35mm 1.4 as well as my Canon 50mm 1.8 lens! These lenses were super helpful as the lighting started to disappear on us!
