Emily + Jackson

(August 20, 2022 in Ellensburg, WA)

Emily and Jackson's wedding was a true reflection of their love and personalities. From the stunning mountain backdrop to the charming details scattered throughout, every aspect of their special day was thoughtfully planned and executed to perfection. The couple exchanged their vows in a breathtaking outdoor ceremony in Ellensburg, WA surrounded by their loved ones and the beauty of nature. This blog post will take a closer look at their unique and romantic celebration, including the vendors who helped bring their vision to life and the personal touches that made the day truly unforgettable.

By our real bride, Emily:

What was the vision for your wedding?

My vision from the beginning was “modern western,” with classic modern black suits and dress hats and a simple but elegant white dress, with Western flares, like my fringe jacket and hat, and the boys’ jeans and boots.

When I walked into my first dress appointment, I thought I wanted long-sleeve lace, but soon realized I wanted one particular dress that I saw another gal wear on the Honest in Ivory blog, which ended up being the exact opposite dress of what I had always thought I wanted!

It was important to me to have local vendors that we knew and wanted to support, and most ended up being from Spokane, where we both grew up and Ellensburg, our new home.

How did it go the day-of?

Our wedding was PERFECT, at least that’s what I thought the day-of! It turns out the day-of our communion bread went moldy and had to be replaced last minute. I also was swing dancing so hard that my dress strap broke, so I ran off the dance floor holding my dress up and managed to find a sewing kit and stitched it up at the bar! Other than the crazy stories, I loved how we gave a dress code of Western formal to our guests — they loved dressing up like cowboys and gals just as much as we did!

What is your #1 tip to future brides?

1. Have a sewing kit on hand at your venue, haha!

2. If you planned your wedding and are a Type A bride like I was, don’t feel like you need to be in charge on the day-of. Truly, let others take the lead, and just enjoy the ride! Not everything will be perfect and that is OK!
