In this blog post, the author shares her vision for her wedding and how it evolved as she planned the event. Initially, she wanted a classic wedding with neutral colors, but as she explored local vendors in Kona, she fell in love with the tropical touches and beautiful flowers they offered. The author chose her vendors based on ease of communication and relied heavily on social media to get a feel for what the day would look like. Despite the stress leading up to the big day, the wedding turned out to be more beautiful than she could have imagined. The author advises future brides to hire a wedding planner to eliminate some of the stress that comes with planning a wedding.

By our real bride, Jenna:

What was the vision for your wedding?

I wanted a very classic wedding with lots of neutral colors. I just wanted it to be beautiful and timeless. As planning evolved, I really started to fall in love with all of the beautiful flowers and tropical touches provided by local vendors in Kona. I chose all of my vendors based on ease of communication and of course I used Instagram a lot. I didn't see my venue or meet any of my vendors in-person until the day before or the day-of the wedding, so I relied heavily on social media to get a true feel for what the day was going to look like.

How did it go the day-of?

Our wedding was absolutely magical and actually turned out to be more beautiful than I could have imagined. We had the best group of friends and family and it felt like everyone was part of the celebration. There was a lot of stress planning and leading up to the big day, but waking up the morning of the wedding was so peaceful. I knew that everything was taken care of and this was going to be the best day and it was!! I was a little nervous because we wrote our own vows and I knew it was going to be very emotional — there were a lot of tears, GOOD TEARS! We were both just so grateful for the incredible love we share, for all of our friends and family that made the trip to celebrate with us and for being able to get married in the most beautiful place.

What is your #1 tip to future brides?

My advice would be to hire a wedding planner. I had a day-of coordinator who was wonderful and my vendors were great, but I am a busy mama with a full time job so it would have been way less stressful to have someone else help with contacting vendors and coordinating everything. I felt really overwhelmed leading up to the wedding and I think that could have been eliminated if I had just hired a planner.
