This blog post details a bride's vision for her wedding and the planning process that led up to the big day. The couple had chosen Cabo Azul as their wedding venue and opted for a small and intimate wedding ceremony. While the day-of was relatively easy, the bride and groom did face some unexpected issues, including weather-related travel delays for some of their guests. Despite this, the day went smoothly, and the bride's favorite parts were exchanging their vows and the karaoke party that followed the reception. The blog post ends with the bride's advice to future brides to plan a wedding that reflects them and their partner, regardless of others' opinions.

By our real bride, Meagan:

What was the vision for your wedding?

On a vacation in San Jose in 2017, we walked through the chapel at Cabo Azul and both thought it would be the perfect place for our wedding. When we got engaged three years later, choosing a venue was an easy decision - we just kept coming back to that beautiful chapel! We knew we wanted something small & intimate, and it just felt right.

I didn't really care about all the little details, I just wanted to show up & get married! Cabo Azul made it so easy to plan the wedding and choose vendors! They gave us a list of recommendations, and I looked through their instagrams and picked my favorites from there.

How did it go the day-of?

A few days before the wedding, we found out there were a ton of airline delays due to weather, and a lot of our family and friends were having trouble getting down there. We weren't sure if Cody's parents, or our officiant (his uncle) were going to make it for the wedding! Thank goodness they did (after driving 8 hours to fly out of a different airport). Unfortunately, a few of our guests couldn't make it, including one of Cody's groomsmen.

With the exception of being a few people down, the day of the wedding was honestly a dream! I was surprised at how calm I was all morning leading up to it - I was just ready to get married! One of my favorite parts of the day was exchanging our vows that we wrote to each other. I highly recommend doing this, even if it makes you nervous! My other favorite part was that our reception turned into a karaoke party when my brother asked our DJ for the mic and started singing. I LOVE karaoke and we had a blast singing and dancing the night away.

What is your #1 tip to future brides?

My tip to future brides is to plan the wedding that you and your fiancé want and don't worry too much about what anyone else thinks! We always dreamed of a small wedding in Mexico, but weren't sure if we could or would actually make that happen. I'm so happy we did! The whole day felt like "us" and we would do it like that again in a heartbeat. Whether you want to elope, do a destination wedding, big, small - do it!
