Melissa + Kenny

(October 22, 2022 in Spokane, WA)

The author of the blog post had multiple visions for their wedding, but eventually settled on The Spokane Club as the reception venue, with the ceremony held at Kenny's college. Through attending bridal shows and seeking recommendations, they were able to secure vendors who made their wedding day even better than they had imagined. On the day of the wedding, the hair and makeup team finished early, and they had a perfect autumn day for photographs, even ending with a sunset on the rooftop of The Spokane Club. The author's number one tip for future brides is to get a day-of wedding coordinator, have a test run for hair and makeup, and walk through the reception space before everyone else gets to see it.

By our real bride, Melissa:

What was the vision for your wedding?

I had about 10 different visions for my wedding so I really had no idea what I wanted. I had a Pinterest board but it was all over the place. We are lucky that it turned out the way it did. The ceremony was an easy decision because it was where Kenny went to College, go Zags! We looked at so many reception venues from farmhouses to hotels and eventually, we figured out what we wanted. We landed on The Spokane Club which was elegant but had the older building charm that we wanted.
After going to a few bridal shows and talking to friends and family in Spokane we were able to secure some amazing vendors. Our wedding coordinator, A Piece of Harmony Events, and our florist, All In The Details made our reception look and smell beautiful. Our photographer was the life of the party and made our wedding come to life in pictures. It was so nice to have vendors that made our wedding day even better than we had imagined.

How did it go the day-of?

The day of our wedding was a perfect autumn day. The girls got ready at the Davenport Tower and the guys at The Spokane Club. Our hair and makeup team (Craft Studio Spokane) was hard at work at 7 in the morning (so early) and ended up finishing all of us earlier than we had expected which made the day pretty relaxing. We started taking pictures mid-morning and then made our way to the church. It was pretty chilly and was supposed to rain so we were slightly worried about outside pictures, but the rain held out. After the ceremony, we took the rest of the pictures with the bridal party. Then my new husband and I made our way to a few different places for photographs. We got so lucky and ended our pictures on the rooftop of The Spokane Club with a beautiful sunset. We made our way inside and took a few minutes to ourselves and then made our way to the reception. We danced the night away and it was the best day ever!

What is your #1 tip for future brides?

First and foremost, get a day of wedding coordinator! It makes your day SO much better. It is also a good idea to get a test run of your hair and makeup so you know what to expect. Finally, if you have the time walk through your reception room/space before everyone else gets to see it. You have worked so hard and it really is a special moment to see it all put together.
